Whispers of the Grasslands: The Deers of Nara
A peaceful dawn encounter with the sacred deers emerging from the forest mist in Japan.
In the ancient city of Nara, wildlife and culture live in harmony. For centuries, the sika deer have roamed the grounds of Todai-ji Temple, protected and revered as divine messengers.
I arrived at Nara Park before the crowds, just as the morning mist began to rise from the grasslands. A small herd of deer emerged silently from the cherry blossom shadows.
Capturing them in the soft dawn light felt ethereal. The deer paused, curious and serene, creating a fleeting moment of pure peace before the city woke up.
