The Plains Sentinel: Tracking Bison in Yellowstone

Winter in Yellowstone is unforgiving. The temperature drops far below freezing, and the landscape is blanketed in a heavy, blinding white. But this harsh climate is exactly what brings out the raw grandeur of the park's most iconic inhabitant.

Standing in the Lamar Valley, I spotted a lone bison trundling through the deep drifts. Steam exhaled from its nostrils in heavy white clouds, instantly freezing upon its dense coat.

Using a long prime lens, I framed the bison against the frozen river beds. It is a portrait of endurance, a testament to the primal force of nature surviving in the coldest corners of the earth.
